Homebodii Bride of the Month: Stephanie Baker

Stephanie Baker, Homebodii's bride of the month, met her husband while backpacking in Southeast Asia, leading to a destination wedding in Crete, Greece. Despite living in Australia, they chose Agreco Farm as their venue, only seeing it in person two days before the wedding. The day was filled with unique touches, including a polaroid guest book, personalized elements for their dog, and a humorous rap during speeches. Stephanie advises new brides on vendor research, late-night snacks, diverse playlists, and cherishing private moments. Her Homebodii moment was wearing the Sian white slip, praising its beauty, comfort, and confidence-inspiring features.

A little bit about me...

I met my now husband backpacking through Southeast Asia. We were both on solo trips and met at the latter end of our travels. We spent four days together and fell in love. We had a long-distance relationship for six months (England – Australia), before Fraser moved to Australia where we have lived since. We have now been together for over four years, still enjoy travelling the world together and spending time with our chocolate Labrador, Harvey.

Our approach to planning the wedding was…

We knew we wanted to have a destination wedding as our biggest shared passion is traveling. When we started looking at venues, we came across Agreco Farm in Crete, Greece and instantly fell in love. As we live in Australia, we actually only saw our venue in person for the first time two days before our wedding (a little crazy!), however, it was everything we had hoped for and more. We adored the idea of having our friends and family together on a holiday spending quality time getting to know each other; by the time the wedding came around, everyone was so close and had the best time together.

Looking back on the day we are so glad that we…

Had a polaroid guest book. Some of the funniest photos we have are from the random polaroid photos taken on the night!

Included our dog, Harvey, by having a personalised cocktail bar sign made containing his illustration. During cocktail hour we had signature cocktails (His, Hers & Harvey’s).

We were tossing up whether to get a cake and I am so glad we did. The cake was delicious and we got gorgeous couple photos with it.

Booked our incredible vendors – who just made the day perfect:

The most unexpected part of the day was...

We wrote personal handwritten cards to each guest which we had at their table setting. It was so special watching everyone read their personal cards and witnessing their reactions.

My bridesmaid and bridesman did a rap for their speech, it was absolutely hilarious and one of my favourite parts of the whole day!

My inspiration for my hair and make up…

I knew I wanted my hair up, being the middle of summer, it was going to be hot! I had my hair and makeup trial a few days prior with my wonderful hair / makeup artist (@natasha.makeupartist). My beautiful bridesmaid and mothers had free rein to choose how they would like their hair and makeup, to ensure they also felt comfortable and confident.

When I look back on the day now I feel…

Happy, emotional, full of love and sad (that it is over!).

A word of advice to new brides would be…

Research your vendors (having amazing vendors are key, they will make your day run so smoothly).

Organise a late night snack for your guests (we had chicken gyros, they were amazing!)

Have a range of songs for all ages to ensure everyone will get up on the dance floor.

Take a few moments to be alone with your partner on the night – soak it all in together.

Don’t feel inclined to invite everyone you know, keep it small & intimate.

My Homebodii moment was special because…

I wore the Sian white slip. Not only is the slip stunning, it was comfortable, light, easy to move in and photographed beautifully. I felt so confident getting ready.
