Homebodii Bride of the Month: Maryam Ghafarinia

Maryam, a Persian-American digital content creator from Orange County, CA, left the corporate world to pursue her passion for creativity. Their destination wedding in Mayakoba was a blend of timeless elegance and glamour, reflecting their personalities, with the Banyan Tree Hotel providing a dreamlike backdrop. The most unexpected moment was their choreographed first dance, adding joy to the celebration. Reflecting on the day fills Maryam with gratitude and advises new brides to embrace every moment. She cherished her Homebodii moment wearing the Kassiah Long Robe and Sian Slip, finding them romantic, feminine, and comfortable.

A little about me...

My name is Maryam and I’m a digital content creator.  My Persian heritage and upbringing in beautiful Orange County, CA, have shaped my unique perspective. I have an MBA and I ventured into the corporate world, but soon realised my heart belonged to the creative world. I love to traveling with my husband, indulging in the art of wine tasting, staying balanced with pilates, and kickstarting everyday with a good cup of coffee. I met my husband 3 years ago. When it came to our wedding, we knew it had to be special. Mayakoba, with its breathtaking beauty, was an easy choice for our destination wedding. It was a place that had already captured our hearts during a friend's wedding, and we couldn't think of a more perfect setting to say 'I do.'

Our approach to planning the wedding was…

Our approach to planning the wedding was all about creating a celebration that truly mirrored our personalities. We aimed for a blend of timeless elegance and over-the-top glamour, with a generous sprinkle of fun. We wanted every moment to feel uniquely 'us,' from the grandest details to the most intimate touches.

Looking back on the day we are so glad that we…

Looking back, we are glad that we opted for a destination wedding. The opportunity to celebrate not just for a day, but for several days, surrounded by our nearest and dearest in one beautiful location, was truly magical. And speaking of magic, Mayakoba was the epitome of enchantment. This tropical haven, with its luxury hotels nestled among natural wonders and a pristine beachfront, was the perfect backdrop for our festivities. We chose the Banyan Tree Hotel. Every moment there felt like stepping into a dream.

The most unexpected part of the day was...

The most unexpected part of the day was definitely our first dance. We had secretly taken dance lessons and practiced a choreographed routine for months. The dance started with a slow, romantic song, and then, to everyone's surprise, we switched to a fun, upbeat tune. It was a beautifully unexpected and joyful moment that caught all our guests off guard.

When I look back on the day now I feel….

I'm overwhelmed with gratitude and joy. All the stress and hustle of wedding planning truly paid off, and seeing our dream wedding come to life was nothing short of magical. It was, without a doubt, the best day of our lives so far.

A word of advice to new brides would be…

My advice to new brides is to truly embrace every moment. Don't rush through anything; just allow yourself to feel and savor each minute. It's a once-in-a-lifetime experience that deserves your full presence.

My Homebodii moment was special because and I wore…

Kassiah Long Robe and Sian Slip. They are very romantic and feminine. They photographed really well and so comfy to wear while getting ready.
