Homebodii Bride of the Month: Ashleigh Fischer

Ashleigh, a Marketing Director residing in Mermaid Beach on the Gold Coast, has spent the past decade living in various cities with her husband. Passionate about running, crafting, and collaborating with brands, Ashleigh approached her wedding with a desire for a classic yet creative celebration. With a curated guest list and unexpected moments like a witness lottery, the wedding was hailed as the best by guests, many traveling from afar. Looking back, the decision to have a larger bridal party, grazing boards, and a videographer proved to be highlights. Ashleigh's advice to new brides is to infuse personal touches, as seen in her special Homebodii moment wearing the Ingrid Bodysuit & Gaylene Robe, while her bridesmaids, clad in Luna Robes with embroidered names, added comfort and rewearability to the celebration.

A little about me...

I am a Marketing Director at an advertising agency, living in Mermaid Beach on the Gold Coast. Over the past 10 years, my husband and I have lived in Melbourne, New York, & London but are so happy be back home and present for all of our family and friends big occasions (engagements, weddings, pregnancies etc). I love to run, make my own clothes, go on long weekend walks with my husband Zack, cook any asian or middle eastern dish, and collaborate with brands on various media projects.

Our approach to planning the wedding was…

Above all else, we wanted the day to be a reflection of us and our relationship; classic yet creative, fun & energised, good food & drinks, indoor/outdoor experiences, and very considered. We were very curated with our guest list (86 total), so much so that all who were in attendance, had in some way contributed to or played a part in our relationship. Because so many of our guest list were travelling from interstate or overseas for the day, we wanted to make it a worthwhile trip and apparent that we were so grateful for that. We're sure they're biased... but a high majority of our guests have since said to us that our wedding was the best that they had ever been to. That meant alot to us because we were glad that everyone had as much fun as we did.

Looking back on the day we are so glad that we…

Had a larger Bridal Party (made getting our photo's a top 3 highlight of our day), had grazing boards vs alternate drops for dinner, prioritised finding a venue that is known for their food & got a videographer.

The most unexpected part of the day was…

We had a witness lottery during our ceremony. Everyone's names were in a glass case and we announced that we were going to be pulling out 2 people to be our marriage witnesses. We wanted everyone there to know how important they all were to us that it didn't matter from all who were in attendance who our witnesses were.

When I look back on the day now I feel…

So happy that we put so much effort into it. It really was the best day ever and we now have so many amazing photo's and an enchanting video that we can watch over & over forever.

A word of advice to new brides would be…

Try to add personal touches that reflect you and your partner to as many aspects of the day as possible. For example, I sewed all our table napkins and painted fans for place cards because I love sewing and being creative. My husband is also very into music so he curated the most epic playlist (which took months haha) but it was all of ours and our friends favourite songs and ensured a full dance floor at all times.

My Homebodii moment was special because and I wore…

Ingrid Bodysuit & Gaylene Robe. I was excited to wear something other than PJ's, something a little more elegant, special and a bodysuit that I could wear again. The removable straps on the Ingrid Bodysuit were perfect for getting my HMU done, and I just loved the lace paired underneath the French Wash Linen ruffles. My Bridesmaids wore the Luna Robe in White, with their names embroidered onto the front. Similarly I knew that they already owned Bridesmaid Pyjama's so I was excited to get them something that was different, comfortable and that they could rewear.
