7 Tips to Start Your Day the Right Way

Here at homebodii, we know what it feels like to wake up and feel all over the place!

Perhaps you are feeling stressed or anxious about the day ahead or you just don’t feel like getting out of bed that morning.

Well, homebodii wants you to wake up feeling positive, rejuvenated and ready to conquer anything that the day throws at you, so we have created a list of seven tips you can do to ensure you have the best start to your day.

Tip #1: Get a good night's sleep 

Getting a good night’s rest is one of the best ways to ensure you are feeling rejuvenated in the morning. Turn off all of your electronics an hour before you go to sleep, this will allow your brain to quieten down and not be over stimulated by lights and other distractions. Pick up a book instead!

Tip #2: Indulge in some luxurious pyjamas

Tip #3: Create a morning routine 

To avoid any early morning stress, create a routine that you can rely on as soon as you wake up. Perhaps the routine may start out with a healthy breakfast, a shower or bath, meditation, making your bed or writing a to do list for the day ahead.

With a steady routine in place, it will give you time to gather your thoughts and will help start a busy day, calm and collected.  

 

Tip #4: Drink some water

As soon as you wake up, drink one or two glasses of fresh water. If you're feeling extra adventurous try some warm water with a squeeze of lemon. This will help to cleanse  your internal  systems and will leave you feeling refreshed.

 

Tip #5: Eat a good breakfast

Start the day feeling energised with a nutritious breakfast. Schedule some time in the morning to make yourself a breakfast that will sustain you throughout the day.

Choose some healthy options such as eggs, smoothies, yoghurt, oatmeal, fruit or avocado on toast. If you don’t have time in the morning, think about making some meals the night before like overnight oats or a cheeky chia pudding.

Tip #6: Meditate or do some exercise

Start the day feeling rejuvenated and connected by doing some meditation.

Meditation is a perfect way to help clear the mind and enables you to relax and focus. Set aside some time in the morning to sit still and focus on your breathing and becoming aware of the thoughts that may come into your mind during this time. If you have a busy day ahead, meditation is the perfect way to centre your thoughts and relax. 

For something different, try a Yoga, Pilates, dance fitness or gym class that will allow you to produce those important endorphins and will leave you feeling energised.

Tip #7: Appreciate the day

Start the day with some positive thinking. Write a list of things you could look forward to that day, for example you might be looking forward to catching up with a friend or if it’s Friday you could be excited for the weekend. Whatever it is, write it down and you will start to feel more positive about the day as you start to look forward to all the little things that may happen.

Alternatively, list what you are grateful for. Every morning, write a list of the things you are thankful for and this will help put your stress into perspective and start your day on a high note.

If writing a list is too much for your busy morning schedule, quickly look in the mirror and appreciate yourself! Tell yourself what aspects you like about you. Is it your hair? Your eyes? Maybe both! Nothing like some self love to start the day right.
