With less than two weeks to go until homebodii's debut at New York Fashion Week, we thought it was a good time to write about how to choose the perfect outfit to match your style. Whether you are a fashion blogger, influencer, buyer, or editor, homebodii has researched style icons, and fashion events to find the best styling tips and most common fashion styles to wear to at NYFW.
Even if you aren't attending any of the shows during the week, if you are out and about near Pier 59 Studios, Skylight Clarkson Sq, or Spring Studios you might be snapped by one of the many photographers or bloggers that report on street fashion. Take a look at our NYFW style guide on what to wear to one of the world's most prominent fashion events.

Styling Tips
Keep it Simple
Some of the more common outfits you see at Fashion Week are quiet simplistic. Clean powerful lines, boxy outfits, monochrome colours, and more traditional pieces.
Pick One Statement Piece
This is very important! You don't want to wear multiple statement pieces to try and make a point. By picking one, it is more likely to stand out against the rest of the outfit, and make you more noticeable to other fashion conscious people. Statement pieces could be as simple as that crazy pair of heels, that amazing handbag you found, or that stylish jacket you never thought you would have an opportunity to wear. Pick one, and work the rest of the outfit around that piece.
Make it Your Own and Stay True to Your Style
No matter what you decide on wearing, make sure that it's true to your style. Those who are confident in what they are wearing and how they feel will come across that way to others. If you are wearing something that is not true to your style, and you don't feel amazing in, you will come across mediocre in your outfit. Flaunt what works for you.

But classic has since expanded to include more tailored jackets and sophisticated casual attire. So whether you opt for that little black dress or a tailored jacket and a pair of jeans, the classic look should leave you feeling timeless and confident.

The whimsical style is very feminine and challenges fashion norms. It is all about having an individualistic style that cries out with splashes of colour, eye-catching patterns, unique textures, playful prints, and fun accessories. The whimsical wardrobe is often breaking rules and relies on the wearers confidence and attitude to bring the piece together. Think colours such as pink, orange, green, and blue, but also some neutrals colours. This style is big on statement pieces that make you stand out such as that colour popping pair of heels, or outfits with prints ranging from polka dots, to florals.
Style icons include: Taylor Swift, Michelle Williams, and Zooey Deschanel.
