Homebodii Bride of the Month: Robyn Kavanagh

A little bit about me…

My name is Robyn, originally from Ireland and now living in Dubai with my husband, Ryan. Together for almost nine years, we got engaged in Paris in May 2024 and were married this summer at the beautiful Villa Bonomi on Lake Como, in a magical celebration surrounded by our closest family and friends. The weekend was everything we had hoped for and more — intimate, romantic, and timeless. It is a weekend we will cherish forever!

Our approach to planning the wedding was…

To create a celebration that felt timeless, romantic and entirely true to us. For us, that meant stepping away from certain traditional expectations and focusing instead on what felt personal and meaningful to us. From the very beginning, we spoke about what mattered most to us and stayed true to these priorities throughout - one of which was our cocktail hour. We wanted it to feel unique, abundant and social, so we extended the time and designed it as a food market–style experience featuring barbequed meats and fish, a raw seafood bar and a charcuterie section. As two food lovers who never miss a food market, it felt beautifully personal to us, and seeing our guests enjoy it made it all the more special.

Looking back, we’re so glad that we…

Took the time to communicate openly with our vendors from the very beginning about our vision and what we wanted — ensuring that nothing was overlooked and that what we were hoping for was both realistic and achievable. Taking that extra time to build trust and clarity with each of our vendors really made all the difference. Once we felt like we had found the right team there was an immediate sense of relief and calmness, allowing us to truly enjoy the process as everything unfolded so beautifully.

The most unexpected part of the day for me was…

how completely calm I felt. From the moment I arrived in Italy, I slipped out of wedding planning mode entirely and adopted the mindset of what will be, will be - trusting that everything would unfold exactly as it was meant to, and it truly did. I had poured so much time and care into making sure every detail was perfect that, by then, I just wanted to be fully present and enjoy every moment of our celebration — and that’s exactly what I did.

When I look back now, I feel…

entirely happy and deeply grateful. It truly was the wedding of our dreams, and I wouldn’t change a single thing. Every detail came together just as we had imagined, and having all of our nearest and dearest together to celebrate with us was the most magical feeling — creating memories we’ll cherish forever. Now, as our photos and videos begin to arrive, I’ve loved reflecting on it all — reliving all of the moments that made our day so special.

My advice to new brides…

To stay true to your vision and trust your instincts. With so much inspiration available, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and start to question your choices, but try not to lose sight of what feels most like you. The most beautiful celebrations are the ones that reflect the couple — their story, their taste, and what matters most to them. When every detail comes from a place of intention, the result will always feel effortlessly beautiful. And most importantly, enjoy your bridal era — it’s such a special chapter filled with anticipation, creativity, and so much love. Embrace every moment, from the planning to the little in-between moments, because it truly passes by in the most wonderful blur.

My Homebodii moment was special because,

It felt like an extension of my wedding dress. I wore the Sian long slip dress, which to me perfectly encapsulates elegance and femininity — the same qualities that defined my bridal look. I wanted every part of the day to feel harmonious and intentional, including my bridal morning look. It was important to me that everything felt like a seamless blend of elegance, romance, and timelessness. The Sian slip embodied all of that, making it the perfect piece to begin such a meaningful day.
