Homebodii Bride of the Month: Megan Jade Russell
A little bit about me…
I’m Meg, a self employed artist. I have been with partner Freddie for 8 and half years. We got engaged in Santorini in 2023 and recently got married at the stunning Middleton Lodge Estate on the 15th June 2026!
Our approach to planning the wedding was…
Our, or should I say my approach to planning the wedding was to genuinely just remain as calm and collected as possible.I didn’t let anything stress me out and my mantra was always “what will be will be”. Luckily everything went to plan but I feel like not letting the stress get to you is the best thing you can do as there is only so much you can have control over, some things are out of your hands.
Looking back we’re so glad that we…
Looking back we are so glad that we booked all of the essentials first. We prioritised our budget on the most important things to us like the photographer & videographer, then everything after that was a bonus. Managing the budget was the best thing we could have done as we ended up being able to afford everything we wanted and it could not have been more perfect! I also did a lot of DIY on things such as the invites, signage, etc - which really helped us to maintain within the budget.
The most unexpected part of the day was…
The most unexpected part of the day the weather! With a June wedding we thought we’d be waking up to glorious sunshine however it was really overcast. I thought I’d be a lot more worried about the weather but when the wedding day approached the mantra mentioned above really does kick in - what will be will be! We managed to have our outdoor wedding as we planned, and the sun made an appearance during the signing of the registry which was just beautiful and such a special moment. It rained in the evening but the day was literally everything we could’ve ever wished for so brides please do not let the worry of the weather take over your day! I did bury a sausage on the grounds the night before (this is an old wives tale) so I’m not sure if this kept the rain at bay for our ceremony!
When I look back now, I feel…
When I look back now I feel beyond grateful. Our day was literally perfect and I would not change a single thing. It really is the happiest day of your life and I wish I could bottle it up and relive it over and over again.
My advice to new brides…
My advice to new brides would be what everyone always says… live in the moment and enjoy every second as it genuinely does go SO fast. Enjoy every magical moment, hiccup, and all of the things in between as once it’s over you really will miss it and wish you could go back in time! I also had a sweetheart table for the wedding breakfast so me and my husband could sit and talk and look at all of our loved ones, soaking up all the love that was in front of us and reminiscing about our mornings and the ceremony. So, a sweetheart table is also a very good tip if you are worried about not having alone time.
Another piece of advice is do not worry about other people, do what makes you and your partner happy. Your guests are there for you both and you want them to have a good time but in the end it is YOUR wedding not theirs.
My Homebodii moment was special because…
My Homebodii moment was so special to me because of my bridesmaids reaction! When I came out of the bathroom with my nightie & robe on I really began to feel like a bride and the excitement kicked in, all of my girls were hyping me up and it really made me feel special. I wore the white Peyton Short Robe and the white Peyton Short Slip, the most gorgeous pair which made me feel gorgeous - thank you Homebodii!
